W. Michael Stemmans is a partner with the firm of Stemmans & Alley, PLLC. He graduated from LSU Paul M. Hebert Law School. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from Northeast Louisiana University, Monroe, LA and holds a license as a Doctor of Pharmacy and Registered Pharmacist in Louisiana.

He has been engaged in the practice of law since 1976. He worked for the City of Baton Rouge for thirty years. He initially served as an Assistant City Prosecutor and as an Assistant Parish Attorney. He represented numerous city boards and commissions, defended police, general liability and workers’ compensation claims, provided legal oversight over numerous public constructions, drafted contracts, as well as overseeing the selection of riverboat gaming interest with the city.

Lastly, as Airport General Counsel for the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport, his experience included public bids, RFQ’s, contracts, leases, construction disputes, zoning, imminent domain, and property, and aviation law. In private practice, his broad scope of experience included divorce, custody, successions, wills, title attorney, property closings, corporations, partnerships, workers’ compensation, personal injury, insurance defense, contracts and construction matters

Throughout his career, Mr. Stemmans maintains an active trial and litigation practice. The Louisiana Supreme Court has appointed him Judge Ad Hoc for the Baton Rouge City Court. He has been admitted in all Louisiana State Courts, all Louisiana Federal District Courts, the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeal as well as the Supreme Court of the United States of America.
